Zulu Nation Anniversary ZULUnation.gif (3809 bytes)

Zulu nation is the worlds lasrgest Hip-Hop organisation/Society. It was founded by Afrikaa Bambataa who 2day is widely considered as the founder of the whole Hip-Hop culture. Bambataa back in the days was actually a gang member, however after one of his best friends has died just next to him in a gang fight, he realised that this is going no-where. All these killings, brutality, there had to be an end to this whole thing. Bambataa realised this, which was probably realised by many people, however he had some ideas and acted on them. People in the bronx at that time were doing pretty bad, trhere were practically no jobs and no prospects for young people, criminality was high and many people gave up on theyr future. However Bambataa came around with the grade idea to turn all this negative energy (problems, agressivity,...) into something positive, into something that would be usefull for all of them, something that would eventually give them another route to walk, not just the one with drugs, crime, but there would be a choice for these young people. This is what hip-hop is mainly about. Many people are ghetosizing it, why...thats completely wrong, sure the roots of it may come from a ghetto, but thats not what its about, it is here for people to give them a chance another way in theyr lives; the system/state didn't care so the youngsters had to sort it out themselves. Now we've got hip-hop here, not just for one ghetto, but we've got it here for the whole world, everyone can be part of it, chinese, mexican, white, black, young-old, there are no set boundaries it is here to develop, but most importantly which should never be left out; transform crime, brutality, problems into positive energy. At the moment this works through B-Boying, DJ-ing, MC-ing, Writting/Graff
